The Vegvisir is a magical symbol that was most likely created in late nineteenth century Icelandic magical practice. It is now a popular symbol used in modern pagan and Asatru practice. In Icelandic it's name means "Guidepost" and it is often called the Runic Compass. It is believed to protect the user from getting lost on their way whilst travelling and to aid them in finding their way back home when needed.
Around it grows the mighty tree of Yggdrasil, whose roots and branches stretch between the worlds of the Norse heathen cosmology.
